Pedagogies in Context

The Eastern Cape, in which Grahamstown and the Makana District are located, has a rich cultural history. It is the birthplace of iconic world leader, Nelson Mandela, and with its the rich heritage and diversity the Eastern Cape offers a range of tourism opportunities. Hiking trails, adventure tourism, cultural heritage, and a range of nature and wildlife areas can be found. The Eastern Cape, and the Grahamstown surrounds host a number of big five game lodges, offering malaria-free game viewing.

Plenty of information on the range of options is available on which carries information on the Grahamstown’s attractions, and the Makana Municipality. The Eastern Cape Tourism board website, carries information on wider options in the Eastern Cape as well as a lovely town outside of Grahamstown.

The National Arts Festival is the largest celebration of arts, culture and creativity on the African continent. The 2019 Festival will take place from 27 June to 7 July.
